I almost never write reviews, because I believe we are all biased anyway, but this one deserves a note ... this one lives on my shelf, always, and I live full-time in a Toyota truck, with shelf-room for only 4 books. But this is *that* book, it's worth more than the space it occupies. This is the one I open randomly and read exactly the reminder I need to hear. I've read it in order, out of order, referred to it, etc. There are many other books out there with a similar message. This one resonates the most with me. It feels more thorough in its exposition of the ascending process at hand. No fluff, just facts, explained and reexplained in different ways. The first time I read it, I felt it was redundant. Okay okay ... I got it ... but once the understanding actually descended from my brain, where things are understood, to my core/heart/self where things are known/remembered, only then did I get the value of the repetition. I don't need to recommend this book to you ... if it has landed in your hands, if you are even reading this review, then it has found you when you needed it. For the rest, the book will speak for itself.

This book will either take you by the hand and lead you to an entirely new understanding of your life, or it will leave you cold. I don't think there is anything in-between. I've read this book a dozen times and each time I get a new--sometimes expanded, sometimes entirely different--understanding of the concepts being presented, along with an expanded perspective of the world, the universe, and myself. It's an astonishing experience that never ceases to amaze me.I'm a teacher of metaphysical awareness and have been devouring spiritual texts and working with energy for well over 50 years; long before it was "cool" to admit that you could talk to dead people. I was born clairvoyant, fully touch-empathic, and clairsentient, with a disturbing level of past-life recall, so my world view and perspective of "reality" has always been dramatically off of the beaten path. I studied psychology for 15+ years, purely for the joy of it. It's hard to surprise me, and harder still to offer me a view of life more outside of the norm than the one I already hold. But this text offers me a new, expanded perspective with every iteration.It has to have been divinely inspired; I can think of no other explanation for the way a single paragraph, read and re-read over successive days, can suggest different avenues of thought simply by my shifting the emphasis given to a single word as I read. There is no way to lift a phrase or quote to explain its potency; in an organic, wholistic sort of way, each concept fuels the next. I began to highlight favorite passages, but my students were soon laughing because the entire book is striped in different shades of yellow and pink. (I think I'll use blue with the next reading, for variety.)I'm a voracious reader who started reading significant works of literature early in life (I read the Lord of the Rings trilogy at 6 years old); but after six decades of life, this may be THE most noteworthy book I've ever had the pleasure to be given. I bless the friend who sent it to me daily, and joke that he hasn't got a chance of topping it.Definitely give it a shot. You'll know immediately whether it's speaking to YOUR soul.

I waited quite a while to read this book as I had a copy given to me by Rasha in 2004. However, when I did read it, out came highlighter and notes were made in the back with page numbers. I bought this copy from Amazon at the request of my housemate. She now keeps it on the breakfast table and reads while eating and other times in her busy life. The information and insights into the workings of the human condition and explanations of the mechanics regarding spiritual progress/evolution are of a high caliber. I have to pause to let it soak in and sometimes stop reading and put the book down to further wrap my head and intuition around the profundity presented. I have decided to re read it cover to cover and build on what has been digested and absorbed previously. This is ONE GREAT BOOK. The information succinct and uncluttered. If you are aware that you are on the spiritual path or curious about about the subject, this book delivers multiple depths of clarity.

I have read many of the reviews here and altho mine may be redundant, I have to add my two shiny pennies of perspective to the preponderance of enthusiasm about how the message in this book is presented. It seems the words are straight from source rather than through an intermediary like a teacher/guru/writer. This is one of three books that occupy a permanent place on my shelf. Every word validates my understanding as well as my ongoing experience of this unprecedented transition of consciousness unfolding right now...not later...now. About the Author
Dr. E. W. Kenyon (1867-1948) was born in Saratoga County, New York. At age nineteen, he preached his first sermon. He pastored several churches in New England and founded the Bethel Bible Institute at Spencer, Massachusetts, which later became the Providence Bible Institute when it was relocated to Providence, Rhode Island. Kenyon served as an evangelist for over twenty years. In 1931, he became a pioneer in Christian radio on the Pacific Coast with his show Kenyon's Church of Air, where he earned the moniker The Faith Builder. He also began the New Covenant Baptist Church in Seattle.

For more than fifty years, Don Gossett (1929) has been serving the Lord through full-time ministry. Born again at the age of twelve, Don answered his call to the ministry just five years later and began his ministry by reaching out to his unsaved family members. Don apprenticed with many well-known evangelists, beginning with William Freeman, one of America's leading healing evangelists during the late 1940s. He also spent time with Raymond T. Richey, Jack Coe, and T. L. Osborn. Don's many writings have been translated into almost twenty languages and have exceeded twenty-five million in worldwide distribution. Don also has recorded two cassette series. His daily radio show, launched in 1961, has been broadcast worldwide. Don has five children to his first wife, Joyce, who died in 1991. Don remarried in 1995 to Debra, who has joined him in his ministry in Washington State.

I liked the technological ideas presented in this book, but the violence and swearing distracted me from the plot. It also kind of felt like the author was trying to cram as many issues as she could into one book. Mallory's mom left them, her dad has PTSD and can't really care for them, she has to wear gloves at all times, kids are bullying her and her brother, she doesn't have many or really any friends other then a boy she met online who is a neat freak, and she exposes companies that commit crimes for fun. I also felt that she was a little too good at hacking into stuff. Overall it wasn't the best book I've ever read but it wasn't exactly the worst either.

The book takes you away! The characters all feel like friends and the story is fun and believable. Highly recommended this book. Can't wait for the author to write another book.

This is wonderful, I will be watching out for more by Laura Tisdall. Extremely well written. Her character development is remarkable. Everything is so REAL.This is a story I will be reading again and again. Thank you, Laura Tisdall!!

This novel kept me hooked, it is 3:00 in the morning snd I just couldn't quit reading. I liked this book and will be watching this author.

Very, very interesting reading-----I looked forward to picking up where I left off everyday but please do a sequel so I can find out the future of the two main characters!!!!

as my own personal preference to books, i love this book. it has a great plot, lovable characters, and a great need to want you to keep reading.

A great guide for those who have never used or worked with any type of Linux OS. Although it primarily concentrates on Ubuntu, it starts you off on the ground floor with the basics, including terminology and takes you step by step through choosing, installing and operating Ubuntu on a system. Since it is clearly meant for a classroom environment, it reads clearly and includes plenty of easily searchable references for those who require further elucidation. For those already versed in Linux, it may seem a bit tedious and slow but is a great refresher and provides the 'why' behind how Linux operates especially in comparison to other operating systems like Windows and OS X. For those looking to pick up an additional skillset or are looking for an introduction into the world of Linux, this book is a great start. And for those Linux pros looking to keep their basic skills sharp or learn the ins and outs of Ubuntu, this is a good book to have in your library.

While the book is great, and is being used as a text book for my college course, I was a little disappointed that even though the book says a DVD is included, there was no DVD to be found. It isn't a huge deal, as the download is free, but it would have been nice not to have to burn my own DVD when the book supposedly includes one.

If you've decided on Debian/Ubuntu Linux as your distribution and you're not already a Linux expert then do yourself justice and purchase a copy of this book. It's thorough and comprehensive; all the while it's insightful and intriguing. The author does a competent job fleshing out concepts while not drowning the reader in distribution specific jargon (which is a real weakness in some Linux texts). The chapters are logically structured working up to more advanced topics and the author never insults the readers intelligence.I have used Unix/Linux off and on since 1999 and this book brought me back over to Linux. I've never been a particularly advanced user and I always hated searching online for hours trying to figure out how to do things in Linux. Now I just reference this book, which remains on my desk at all times. This is THE book to own for ordinary users and systems administrators alike.

The perfect recipe for transitioning to an operating system you'll enjoy using with a good and clear conscience. I've dabbled in Linux distributions in the past and have had quite a bit of success and enjoyment using it. Sobell does an excellent job with this volume making Linux accessible to the everyday user.For the computer savvy Sobell's companion volume, A Practical Guide to Linux, Commands, Editors, and Shell Programming, is an equally well presented resource.

I'm new to linux in general and heard about Ubuntu through friends. Though I consider myself to be a fairly competent computer user (built computers for 4 years during college and manage hardware/software for a small business), Linux was pretty intimidating to me. This book breaks more complex stuff like RAID array setup, managing software updates, even using the console interface into easy to understand language. This is a rare book, in that it's written by knowledgeable people with the average Joe in mind. You can use it as a step-by-step guide or as a reference book. It's pretty modular, so you can skip what you don't need or want to read without missing anything important for other tasks. If you're thinking about breaking ties with Windows but find Linux intimidating, this is book a great place to start.

This book is very helpful and covers so much. It was a requirement for my Linux class for school and I'm glad I got the chance to discover this book. It is very well written with easy to read and understand instructions. I have found a few typos in some command line commands, but was able to fix it from learning from previous chapters.

Just what I was looking for -- lots of technical content in a very readable and usable style. Not the right book (too much) for a beginner who just wants to do the usual "office like" PC activities, but I wanted to know more about how it works and feel more in control, yet did not wish or need to become a Linux geek just for the sake of it. Thus probably also not the best book for the hard core "system administrator", but for me it was just right.

Been using it as my primary non-forum reference for two years. Only bummer now is my edition is becoming slightly dated.
